Announcing the Top 10 finalists for our 2nd Indie Games Competition!
This time, the competition was fierce with around 120 games vying for the top spots. It was VERY tough picking just ten. In the end, there were much arguments and bloodshed, feelings got hurt and I think someone even switched my chair to a squeaky broken one!
Here are your ten 2BeeGames Indie Game Competition Finalists!
The name was good enough to earn it a spot! Haha jk. But seriously, it’s a pretty fun “console” RTS as we controlled it with a 360 controller. The presentation is wonderful and it was a blast sending the aliens back to the stone age
At first glance of the initial imagery of Climb to the Top of the Castle, you can definitely see how this game would appeal to all the old school side scroll fantasy game aficionados out there. This game reminds me of something that takes on the aesthetic of Golden Axe meets Life of Brian, and that is probably what I like most about this game. It has the element of a medieval fantasy world but also has a fittingly humorous and spoofy feel to it. It is definitely a game that we would love to see developed further to its full potential.
(Protip: Map it to a controller for less agitation! - Tony)
Big Congrats to Edouard for making it twice in a row! Another super colorful game with awesome gameplay. Where did you come up with the crazy Cochons idea anyway??
Daytraders of the Dead – submitted by Mat Groves/ John Denton
The bloodiest game in the competition by far! Love the little touches like the scrolling news bar on the bottom. Would love to see this as a dual stick shooter. Reminiscent of the old school classics like Smash TV.
Kinda hard to describe this game. A top down RPG, reminds me of Fable if it were uhhh top down? Great polish went into this with a deep storyline, lots of dialogue and little touches like your armor changing when you put something on. The items and inventory menu feels like its from a Blizzard game.
Speaking of hard to describe games. How do I even begin to describe this? You really do feel like a hectic mayor’s assistant (or 2BeeGames manager) trying to fix everything and get it running smoothly in time. This was Alison’s favorite as she didn’t have to focus on killing and shooting…
Wow, what can I say? Original gameboy color palette and sound? Tower of Heaven is all sorts of awesome. Felt like it came straight out of 1990. I could definitely see playing this on an old school gameboy waiting for the schoolbus or something. Brought back good memories.
Addictive puzzler by the two man team. Intense music and great gameplay. Took me a second to get used to it as I don’t read instructions before starting but I got it rocking pretty quickly. Only wished it were a bit longer. Would be great for the touch systems.
Vector Conflict: The Siege – submitted by Dig Your Own Grave Games
What an interesting developer name! This game was a favorite of Lamar’s as it reminded him of the old Vectrex days. Amazing gameplay and tons of options to keep even you busy.
Well that’s all 10 of them, and big congratulations to all of the finalists!
Congrats to all entrants as well, there will be other awards given out for some other games as well so stay tuned!
Remember, you only have 1 Vote per week so make it count! The next voting period will begin on November 16th. The complete contest ends on the 30th. Only 3 weeks of eliminations this time!
Ah, this is fun! :D I've always been a fan of competitions, but when a publishing deal is at stake it's even cooler! Good luck everyone! Perhaps by next year I will be able to enter my project.
